Why no one hears much from me

Many people may already know that I do volunteer webwork for the Cactus Conservation Institute website.
An exciting project I have been working on for the past two years or so is the creation of an illustrated overview of those plants which are associated with Astrophytum asterias and the Lophophora species.

The project has already exceeded 450 MB and its final size is unclear.
It presently includes more than 2600 images featuring over 100 cacti and 170 additional plant species -- and it is still growing.

A huge and daunting task has been species recognition and name assignments. If you have familiarity with the flora of South Texas, Tamaulipan Thornscrub and the Chihuahuan Desert and are willing to help please feel free to give feedback on name corrections or offer your opinion on the unknowns. During the creation and editing process, all corrections and other help will be acknowledged on the pages where the edits occurred and once completed all who helped will be listed as coauthors of this web project. I also welcome any suggestions on design, data accessibility and organization.

In some cases I have included cultivated plants as placemarkers for known companions but our goal is to include in habitat images for all plants listed.
We welcome any images that you want to contribute to this public information database.
Please note that this is a temporary location during the editing process so all links which connect to other pages within the Cactus Conservation website itself are presently nonfunctional. Once it has been completed this project will appear on the CCI website rather than here.

I hope that you enjoy it.
